Pureza Neri Ramos, the first lady lawyer of Cagayan de Oro, writer, former City Councilor, former President of the Cagayan de Oro Press Club, former Chairperson of the Cagayan de Oro Historical Commission and community leader passed away in Cagayan de Oro, Oct 1, 2010.

In one of her articles, she wrote:

“I have loved Cagayan de Oro all my life and, I suppose, I shall love her until the end of my days. Here I was born and here I hope to die.”

Atty. Ramos is survived by her daughter, Gwendolyn Ramos, who like her is a writer and a community leader.  Wendy resides in Union City, California.  She and her family will be in Cagayan de Oro for the services.

Eternal rest grant unto Pureza, oh Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her.

Death is not putting out the light.
It is extinguishing the candle because the dawn has come.
