PAGCOR Card Dealing Courses now available in Cagayan de Oro
Mindanao residents can now undergo training in Cagayan de Oro City to qualify for well paying jobs as casino dealers in Metro Manila and abroad.
Vineyard International Polytechnic College (VIPC) has tied up with the PAGCOR Training Center to offer basic courses in card dealing and slot machine technician to offer Mindanao residents the same opportunities offered at their Metro Manila training center for a much lower investment.

“PAGCOR Training Center (PTC) is the forefront training provider of the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR),” said Ms. Amelita P. Padilla, VIPC President. “We have linked with PTC as an outside training service organization to help them build a professional service industry by offering affordable card dealing and slot machine technician courses in Mindanao.”
“Anyone aged 21-31 years old can qualify as a card dealer but a person’s ability, personality and attitude counts more than anything else,” said Armi-Corazon A. Braganza, PAGCOR assistant vice president. “Even persons without experience in playing casino style card games can still make a career dealing cards. Our PTC courses aims to make you a professional level dealer with our professional instruction.”

As a PTC accredited training center, VIPC can accept qualified students for training even if their educational background is limited provided they have good common sense and the ambition to succeed, she added.
“The courses offer extensive training for those who want to start a serious career in the gaming industry,” said Mr. Anton P. Padilla, VIPC Vice President for Academic Affairs. “Students will learn the basic hand skills in dealing cards, handling chips, calculating payouts and service skills in dealing with customers.”
The demand for professional card dealers in Metro Manila and abroad is rising with the establishment of PAGCOR’s Entertainment City Manila, a $20-billion Las Vegas-like gaming and entertainment complex that PAGCOR has invited for private sector investment in the reclamation area of Manila Bay which is expected to generate up to 1,000,000 new jobs.
Ricardo Banag, PAGCOR Chief Trainer and Pit Manager, runs some members of the local media through a simulated game of black jack.
Professional card dealers abroad earn a minimum of $30,000-40,000 per year and often don’t have to take second jobs like their OFW counterparts just to make ends meet, said Ricardo Banag, PAGCOR Chief Trainer and Pit Manager. “In other countries, persons over 31 years old are still accepted as card dealers provided they pass the training course and accreditation exams so age is not really a constraint provided you qualify in terms of skills and attitude.”
VIPC initially offers PTC certificate courses in Basic Card Dealing for Baccarat, Blackjack, Craps, Roulette, Pontoon, Paigow Poker and Texas Hold’em Poker. PTC recommends Blackjack and Baccarat as the best games to start out with, giving the student a good foundation for many other games.
Mr. Banag demonstrates the hand skills in dealing cards and handling chips under the watchful eyes of members of the local media.
Students also have the option to enroll in PTC multi-courses like Baccarat/Blackjack; Paigow/Stud Poker; Stud Poker and Blackjack/Baccarat/Roulette to increase their marketability in highly competitive casino dealer jobs here and abroad.
After completing a Certificate Program in Casino Dealing, the successful graduate would already have a complete knowledge of Blackjack and Baccarat and be completely prepared to immediately start working as a Casino Dealer, he added.
Those who prefer to be slot machine technicians will learn daily floor procedures, identifying errors and slot machine malfunctions, troubleshooting and repair.
