Whether it was in Ontario, U.S. Eascoast, Texas, Washington, Northern California or Southern California, lechon was always the main event on the banquet table and the abundance of native Kagay-anon food was everywhere for everyone's 'BH'.
The Kagay-anon Canadians opened the celebration in a campground that included guests from Quebec like Joey Cuerquiz as reported by Toronto's perennial PRO Willa Along Neri. They had an impromptu concert rendered by Ernie Linog & Martin Pangan.
The U.S. Eastcoast, home of the 2009 Kagay-anon International Tapok followed led by Chita Roa Marquez and Roy Baldomero. For the Kagay-anon Texans it has become a tradition to celebrate their fiesta in the coastal town of Galveston. This time they had their election of officers and elected were: Agnes Acero Wickerson - President; Annette Reyes Weirsheim- Vice President; Nancy Gaane Balingasa - Treasurer; Boy Yap - Secretary; Walbur Salcedo - Auditor.
On the last weekend of August, Washington, Northern California and Southern California celebrated their fiesta in their respecteve places. Ruby Bacarrisas Brehm reported that in Washington they held their fiesta in the huge backyard of Loloy and Nene Saarenas. Not to be outdone by Canada, they also had their own entertainment performed by Eddie and Chona Liloc, Raul Bacas, Dennis Bibanco and Nonoy MascariA±as ala Four Aces, Platters, Brothers Four and Frank Sinatra.
Wendy Ramos reported that Northern California had their own fun fiesta which was well-attended by oldtimers and some new faces. They had the usual camaraderie that only comes with having townmates as friends.
Southern California who has the most number of Kagay-anons had an attendance of close to 300 with a Mass concelebrated by Msgr. Roding Roa and Fr. Cesar Ramantin both of the Archdiocese of Cagayan de Oro. Gerlou Gaane, President of the Kagay-anon International of Southern California credited the smashing success of the fiesta not only to her fellow officers but to many members who came helping and enjoyed the day in the bayanihan and Kagay-anon spirit.
